Description 

White needles, plates, crystals or powder, becomes pink upon exposure to air or light or contact with iron; faint, unpleasant, phenol-like odour; sweetish taste followed by bitter taste.

General Information: 

Soluble in water, alcohol, ether, DMSO, glycerol, benzene, amyl alcohol and acetic acid; slightly soluble in chloroform. Incompatible with strong oxidising agents, acids, ammonia, salts, iron, menthol and urethane.
