2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) is a dye largely used for enumeration of microbial colonies in solid culture media (21). This dye is a key component of the dry rehydratable film system used for microbiological analysis of food (5,6,20).
Also TTC is colorless in the oxidized form and red when reduced. a redox indicator commonly used in biochemical experiments especially to indicate cellular respiration (example: to check for the viability of seeds).
